With Thanksgiving right around the corner, you're probably already thinking about the Turkey Day menu, especially if you're hosting or need to bring something to Friendsgiving. A festive sangria recipe is the PERFECT sweet treat to have on hand for your guests!
I tried to think of all my favorite sweet flavors for fall (apple, cinnamon, pomegranate, ginger and spice) and make a drink out of them! So let's make the ultimate Thanksgiving Sangria/Punch!
Thanksgiving Sangria 🥧
Ingredients
(serves about 8- in 13oz glasses with ice):
1 Bottle of White Wine (I used Pinot Grigio)
1/2 cup of Triple Sec or Cointreau
1 & 1/2 - 2 cups Apple Cider (I like it a little bit sweeter, so I did 2 cups of apple cider, but 1&1/2 cups would be good too! Just depends on your preference. Start with 1 & 1/2 cups and give it a taste first)
1/2 can of Ginger Beer
1 oz Cinnamon Simple Syrup (you could also do regular simple syrup or maple syrup- just add some cinnamon sticks into the mixture to add the cinnamon taste)
Apple Slices (I used 3 red apples)
Pomegranate Seeds (I used 3 spoonfuls)
Cinnamon Sticks for garnish
Rosemary Sprig for garnish
1/2 oz Brandy per glass (optional for people who want a little bit stronger sangria)
Method: In a pitcher, add in your wine, apple cider, ginger beer, and simple syrup. Give it a good stir. Next add in your apple slices and pomegranate seeds. Give it another stir. Let chill in the fridge for at least 30 mins (or even better let it chill in the fridge overnight). Time to get ready to serve! I used 13 oz glasses. Add ice into each glass and get to pouring (make sure to get a couple apple slices and pomegranate seeds in each glass)! Garnish with a cinnamon stick and rosemary sprig. Now for those who like their Sangria a little bit stronger, the optional step is to add in 1/2 oz of brandy per glass. Add it as a floater and give it a stir before sipping! The brandy really brings out the spice and gives you that extra kick if you so desire. Thanksgiving in a glass! Best enjoyed with family and friends! This sangria should keep about 5-7 days in the fridge with the fruit in it.
Cinnamon Simple Syrup:
- 1/2 Cup Hot water (I like to bring it to a boil)
- 1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar (you could use brown sugar too which is what I used!)
- Cinnamon Sticks (about 8)
Method: In a bowl, stir together the hot water and sugar. Stir together until the sugar has fully dissolved. Add in your cinnamon sticks. Give it a good couple stirs and then let it sit for either 30 mins or overnight in the fridge covered. After it has sat, strain it into a mason jar and be sure to label! Flavor simple syrup usually lasts in the fridge sealed well for about 1-2 weeks.
