Mezcal Midori WICKEDLY SOUR low ABV Cocktail

What is Halloween without a Midori drink? Are you looking for a cocktail that is yummy in taste but maybe isn't as strong in alcohol this spooky szn? It might be a long night of handing out candy to trick or treaters so you want to pace yourself. This cocktail uses a zero proof tequila alternative and Midori which is a melon liqueur so the alcohol by volume is already lower.

This cocktail is also inspired by my love for Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West. (Yes I was a musical theater major in college, and am a proud theater nerd :) I cannot think of Halloween without Wicked). I wanted to make something that is a little bit lower in alcohol by volume (ABV) so that we have options!

I have seen Mezcal Midori Sour recipes that all call for Yuzu juice but I couldn't for the life of me find Yuzu juice at my local grocery stores. I was able to find Yuzu seltzer through and that worked out perfectly. Substitution game strong!

Let's use my tequila alternative that I've been loving (flavored with mesquite smoke) for my take on a low abv mezcal midori sour.

Mezcal Midori WICKEDLY SOUR low ABV Cocktail

- 1.5 zero proof Mezcal Flavored Tequila Alternative

- 3/4 oz OR 1 oz Midori (3/4 oz is better for taste 1 oz is better for the green color)

- 1/2 oz lemon juice freshly squeezed

- 1/2 oz pineapple juice

- 1/4 oz simple syrup

- 1 oz egg white

- Splash of Yuzu Soda (I used Something & Nothing)

- dehydrated lime

Method:

Add all your liquid ingredients into a cocktail shaker without ice. Give it a good froth with a handheld frother (frother linked below). Once good and frothy, add a couple pieces of ice and give it a good shake. In a frosted glass (I used a stemless martini glass- linked below), pour out your wickedly green mixture. #garnish with a dehydrated lime. Best enjoyed while defying gravity ;)
