There is something about an orange cocktail that I cannot resist! The Americano is a classic cocktail great for the upcoming holiday season because it's light and won't weigh you down before your big holiday meal! I recently enjoyed this aperitif while preparing our Thanksgiving dinner! The Americano consists of Campari, Sweet Vermouth and soda water. I garnished mine a grapefruit peal (instead of the usual orange) because I like the extra sweetness that the grapefruit gives off. The sweetness helps balance the bitterness of the Campari.
Cheers to this orange goodness!
1.5 ounces of Campari (1.5 ounces is a standard shot glass)
1.5 ounces of Sweet Vermouth
Splash of soda water (I used lemon seltzer)
Garnish with a grapefruit peal
Served over ice in a rocks glass
